Synopsis
The story of a group of women who decided to break a male monopoly. Despite their historical involvement in the production of agave distillates, archaic traditions and beliefs have kept women under another glass ceiling. But the “Mujeres del Mezcal y Maguey de Mexico” Association is now shattering it. Recognizing their own value and the benefits of working together, these women have joined forces to ensure that Mexico’s producers and rural communities get their fair share of the economic boom that is mezcal, while preserving traditions and respecting the environment.
